How to Gain New Insurance Clients like Clockwork
You may be having difficulties gaining new clients in your customer list, but you must realize that closing sales isn’t as hard as you think. Below are some tips to help you boost insurance sales, and be a sales-generating machine that converts prospects into customers in no time.
1. Don’t be pushy
As an insurance agent, you’ll fail your services if you push your customers around too much. In fact, any salesperson would have a hard time selling and getting any sales, if they push the customers around. How many times have you been annoying by an annoying salesperson in a clothing store? Did you really ask for him/her to be there to help you? No. This goes same for your clients.
Being kind and considerate will take you a long way in the insurance policy selling business. You have to convey interest to your client’s needs and what benefits your services can have on their lives. Your client has to feel like you want to help them improve their lives, and secure their health for years to come.
2. Be honest at the beginning
Tell your clients what you have to offer straight up front. This includes what your services offer, and how they can benefit the clients’ lives. Be honest, caring and respectful to your client’s current lives, so that they can see your intentions are to honestly help them improve their lives.
Look for signs of interests.
At some times during your selling process, you’ll see some verbal cues from your clients’ that show how interested they may be to sign with your services.
Your client will ask questions related to your service, such as “Will it be easy to add my family members to your policy?” Your clients will show interest to your pitch by occasionally saying “really?” or “That’s good” to compliment your services, even though they haven’t used it yet. They might also criticize the other insurance policies they used previous (they can be your direct competitors) and compliment on yours at the same time. This may be on the lines like “So and so company never offered that to me, I’m glad you offer those options.”
3. Sound authoritative and appear as an expert
Knowing your own services inside out shows your passion of your services, shows that you believe in your own services and shows how much you can be trusted. This helps you appear as an authority – someone they would trust in answering any questions they may have on your subject.
4. Ask questions to answer your clients’ questions.
This is where you can almost secretly “force” your client into using your service, and increase the closure rate. If your client asks a question such as “Will it be easy to add my family members to your policy?” you would answer with “Would you like to add your children now?” to demonstrate how easy it is add those family members.
5. Give your clients options so they can choose.
An effective insurance agent always tailors their insurance plan according to what the client wants, even during a conversation. If you can suggest policies based on what the client’s wants, this your client that you’re interested in their lives, and you care about improving their lives.
6. Let them think.
Always give your clients time to think. You can push them in a subtle way by using the 5th tip, but don’t go overboard by aggressively suggesting policies. Your clients will need some time to think about how your services will benefit them.
Learn those 6 tips above, and you’ll be able to close new insurance policy sales like clockwork, consistently increasing your customer base!
